Artist Statement
As the sole creator of my artwork, the subject will start from a piece of sheet metal, steel bar or found object. I use various techniques to texture the metal which include acid wash, grinding, natural rusting or applying gesso. Various pieces are heat treated, washed in acid, or wire wheeled. Other pieces are an assemblage of various metals or found objects. I will apply enamel paint, acrylic or oil paint over the textured metal or experiment with different combinations. Most pieces have several layers of paint in order to achieve a desired look.
